Eleven-year-old boy claims his kitten saved him – It's a story of rescue, but the roles are surprisingly reversed:
Eleven-year-old Zen W. from Concord swears that it wasn't he who saved the kitten from the animal shelter, but the kitten who saved him. And looking at the events of the last week, he might be right.
Zen has been suffering from mysterious, severe headaches for several weeks that have left even the best doctors in the region at a loss. “It feels like a tornado is raging in my head,” explained the young hero. When his parents finally suggested a therapy attempt with animal support, Zen was thrilled. That's when Thorn, a white, fierce-looking kitten, came into play.
“She chose me,” says Zen, who is convinced that Thorn was waiting for him at the shelter. "I actually wanted a different kitten, but Thorn stared at me as if to say, ’You're my human.'”
Since the furry roommate moved in, Zen has undergone an amazing transformation. The headaches? Almost gone. “Thorn lies down with me when the pain hits and purrs. It's as if she chases away the tornado,” explains Zen. Science may not yet be able to explain it, but for Zen it's clear: Thorn is not just a pet, but a savior on cat feet.
Whether it was Zen who saved Thorn or the other way around is a matter of opinion. One thing is for sure: sometimes you don't need superpowers to be a hero – just a few whiskers and a big heart.
